Grading 3D Rendered Images Tutorial from Substance painter

ABOUT THE 3D RENDERED IMAGES TUTORIAL & GRADING

Hey everyone! Today I am happy to bring you an all new, state of the art grading tutorial for the After Effects as well as Substance Painter for rendering out the images for the portfolio ready renders.

Create a great looking renders(not only pumping-up the saturation on them). We will learn how to create beautiful renders from substance painter and grade them later in after effects.

Chapter 1 - Substance Painter: Rendering, Scene Setup & Lighting Preparation

The tutorial starts in Substance Painter while relying on the proven rendering techniques, lighting and some adjustments for final image output. Once we get to the rendered images from the Substance Painter part we make use of After Effects cool capabilities which is an amazing way to create graded images in a stack based and non-destructive approach and with excellent results.

After the rendering part is completed, we will jump into the After Effects and start grading our renders in order to have the perfect beauty renders for our later “post-processing”.  For that, we make use of plugins to max out our LUTs and other post effects. At the end of this chapter, we will prepare the rendered model and lighted model by making sure we have the right renders for later post-processing.

Chapter 2 - Post Processing in After Effects Using LUTs and Plugins and some Unique tools

After the Substance Painter part we export our renders and import them over to the After Effects which has the best grading tools available. Here we will grade our image. After that we will use our renders in After Effects where create two(or more) rendered-graded image versions for the sci-fi robot. Learn how to use LUTs files, making use of various curves, renoiser plugins and how to use correction with masks and filters to form up the resulting in a photo super-realistic appearance. Same process can be done in Photoshop as well.

What are the requirements?

It is recommended to follow the tutorials with the same software I use throughout the tutorial: After Effects, Substance Painter to do our renders and post in After Effects. A list of plugins is included to the tutorial, as well as documentation how to install them. You can see the full list here on this google document too.

Who is the target audience?

As all tutorials, the 3D RENDERED IMAGES TUTORIAL & GRADING tutorial is aimed at beginners as well as intermediate. I avoid heavy use of shortcuts so that you can see which actions I use. On top of me explaining every step, you can also always pause the screen and you will see which actions I was using.
